City of Long Beach Proclamation

Presented to Greater Long Beach Alumnae Panhellenic

Whereas on January 13, 1923, the Long Beach Chapter of Panhellenic was founded to promote personal growth and a better future for women based on the values of friendship, compassion, loyalty, generosity, and integrity; and

Whereas Greater Long Beach Alumnae Panhellenic has distinguished itself for 100 years and enriched the lives of sorority women through award-winning social programming that emphasizes sisterhood, leadership, lifelong learning, professional development, and service to others; and

Whereas Greater Long Beach Alumnae Panhellenic has demonstrated a dedication to education and academic achievement by providing scholarship assistance and support to college students who attend California State University, Long Beach and other area institutions; and

Whereas Greater Long Beach Alumnae Panhellenic has benefitted the community for a century through participation in a wide range of philanthropic activities aimed at special-needs children, at-risk women, medical research and care, and other charitable causes; and

Whereas Greater Long Beach Alumnae Panhellenic, working with the National Panhellenic Conference and its 26 member organizations, has advanced the sorority experience and promoted relationships built on trust, mutual respect, diversity, and inclusion.

Now, therefore be it resolved, I, Mayor Rex Richardson, on behalf of the people of the City of Long Beach, do hereby pay honor to and thank Greater Long Beach Alumnae Panhellenic and its past and present members for their many dedicated years of service and join them in celebrating their 100-year anniversary.
