Collegian Scholarship

Hailey Barry, Delta Gamma
California State University, Long Beach

Hailey, a sophomore majoring in health care administration and minoring in human resource management, is planning to get a master’s degree and pursue a career as a hospital administrator. She is passionate about Delta Gamma’s philanthropy, Service for Sight, and has taken a leadership role in her chapter’s community service projects as part of its Foundation Committee. She is also currently vp: finance as well as serves on the House Corporation Board, assisting with budget management and other financial responsibilities.

Collegian Scholarship

Zoe Gonzales, Zeta Tau Alpha
California State University, Long Beach

This junior studying political science and journalism aims to earn a master’s in public policy then head to Washington D.C. and work on legislation on equity and diversity in education. From day one as a Zeta, Zoe has taken an active role in the chapter. She began by creating monthly interactive lessons on ZTA’s key values to engage all her sisters. Currently, she is VP of Philanthropy and Service and is completing a successful fundraising effort during which she initiated new events and exceeded financial goals. Zoe also shares her communication skills as a member of Panhellenic Council, a resident assistant and a management intern in the Political Science Department.

Sophie Simic, Delta Gamma
California State University, Long Beach

A junior working on her degree in nutrition and dietetics, Sophie maintains a 3.9 GPA and is focused on becoming a registered dietitian specializing in sports nutrition. She has served in several sorority leadership roles and is currently chapter president as well as a member of Delta Gamma’s Honor Board, Evaluating Committee, and House Corporation. A rewarding experience for her has been volunteering at the Children's Center for the Visually Impaired, facilitating adaptive sports and modifying activities that enabled the youngsters to participate, play independently and learn. Each week, Sophie tutors high school students in algebra, chemistry, English, and history, helping them improve their letter grades.

Dorothy "Jan" Jones Alumna Scholarship

Kristal Vu, Zeta Tau Alpha

California State University, Los Angeles

A 4.0 graduate student working to become a licensed clinical social worker, Kristal remains active in her sorority and is a member of the ZTA Long Beach Alumnae Chapter. As an undergraduate, she was a founding member of the CSULB chapter, instrumental in helping Zeta re-colonize and find its place on campus. Once she earns her master’s, Kristal wants to become a collegiate chapter advisor. In addition to her studies and family caregiving responsibilities, she currently performs community service through Phi Alpha National Honor Society for Social Work, participating in food and clothing drives, volunteering for Sundays in Skid Row and supporting Meals on Wheels West Los Angeles.
